heaven's arrivals

Her plane landed. She retrieved her luggage and quickly walked towards the arrival doors. When they opened, that’s when I saw her. I watched this young lady scan the crowd for the familiar face she had come to see. I’d say she was in her early 20’s, blonde hair dusting her shoulders, a tiny girl, and when she saw him – she dropped her bags and ran, like a daughter who hadn’t seen her dad in a very long time.

They embraced and she cried into her dad’s chest. I watched his big broad shoulders heave with sobs. Big deep sobs.

He took her face in his hands, hardly believing it was her; they embraced again with big tears and nervous laughter. What a joyous reunion.

It was so heartwarming to be a fly on the wall, sitting in arrivals, while I waited for my loved one to come through the doors.

And that’s when my mind starting wandering …

I imagined where I was sitting was “heaven” and all those behind the arrival door had not yet “arrived”. In my mind’s eye I could see the hustle and bustle taking place “behind the doors”. The carousal which held the luggage going round and round, with no takers – all baggage can now be left behind.

As I continued waiting, I envisioned heaven’s welcoming committee, just like the father I just witnessed waiting for his daughter.

I could see the moms and the dads, grandpas and grandmas, sisters and brothers and all sorts of children who didn’t have a chance to know their families – all on tip toes wondering who is next to come through the doors.

Heaven was an excitable place!

“Maybe it’s my mom coming next!” one shouts. Another’s voice is heard above the crowd, “it’s got to be my wife, I’ve been waiting so long!” and when the door opens, everyone starts cheering and one person breaks through the crowd and runs to the one they’ve been waiting for – and another child of God has come home.

It may not happen exactly as I pictured above, but dear one, it is going to happen. Even as you read this blog, there are arrivals bursting through heaven’s door and a welcoming committee is ushering them in!

When your name is written in the book of life, in heaven, the arrival doors open of their own accord and your welcome into God’s eternal home will be, “out-of-this-world”.

You can make a reservation today.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance”. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)

“ … absent from the body and to be present with the Lord”. 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. John 3:16  (NIV)

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, Your word confirms, if I confess the Lord Jesus as my Saviour then my name will not be blotted out of the book of life. Thank you for the hope of walking through heaven’s arrival doors to be with You forever!
