Dear Mom,
In desperation, we often make quick promises to God. Please God do “this” and I promise I’ll do “that.” Hannah of old vowed as well; “if you give me a child, I’ll give him back to you.” To her that meant, as soon as her child was weaned (I’m not sure what age that was – quite young for sure) she would bring him to the temple to serve God… and leave him there. She kept her promise, her vow to God. Can you imagine?
“It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it”. Ecclesiastes 5:5
