Can you imagine becoming a king at 8 years old?

This happened in Bible times to a young boy named Josiah (btw, I have a son Josiah – just love the name!)

At 8 years of age, Josiah was crowned King.

His story is so fascinating.

There had been a lot of kings, who, one right after another turned from following the living God. Nevertheless, King Josiah decided the legacy of his immediate relatives was not going to be his, he turned to the God of his ancestors, King David. The young Josiah bypassed those of his relatives who weren’t good, and focused on those who were.

The Bible states, 8 years into his reign, “while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David” (2 Chronicles 34:3).

Such a wise and mature decision at 16 years old!

Then at 20, King Josiah turned the kingdom upside down – or should I said, right-side up. Then at 26, he began repairing God’s house, encouraging his people to live right (righteousness).

The point I’m making today dear student, is, don’t get sidetracked from serving the one and true God when you are young.

Stand firm in your faith and serve God faithfully with your whole heart, for your whole life.

You were born for a purpose and your generation needs a godly example, they need a good you.

Can I encourage you to be a JOSIAH or if you are a young lady, a female version!?

Your calling is different from others. You are anointed by God to live for God and accomplish your God given purpose in your generation. He has a plan that fits only YOU (Jeremiah 29:11).

A warning though …

Satan is out to kill, steal and destroy … that’s his primary job … since we know what he does, don’t let him kill, steal or destroy you. Read your Bible, pray and attend church. King Josiah had extreme pressures at a young age, just like you – and the Bible says “he began to seek God”. Allow me to encourage you to do the same.

“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength”. Philippians 4:13 (NIV)

That’s God’s promise to you! As He was with King Josiah and helped him in every way, God is with you! Make a declaration today …

I WILL SERVE GOD WITH MY WHOLE HEART, FOR MY WHOLE LIFE!

You’ll never be disappointed with that decision … ever.

Today’s Prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I want to be a Josiah in my generation. May I be strong in spirit, filled with wisdom and may the grace of God be upon me. Deliver me from all evil. Amen”.
