The day dawned like the one before – bright and sunny. The young student laced her runners, snapped on her water belt and she was off. Early morning jogs are the best – she hoped today she’d clear the fog in her mind and receive some answers. Half way through her run with her mind finding no peace, she collapsed on the grass with her head in her hands. “How do I find Your will for my life? I seem to be running in all different directions. Am I in Your will now? What exactly is Your will? I don’t know which way to turn today, I am so confused. Help me God”.

I’ve asked those questions myself and have been in that state of mind. I too have put my head in my hands and had no idea what to do when I stood up. Perhaps you have too. Allow me to encourage you; along the road of life I’ve discovered a few truths that just might help …

• God has lead me through circumstances; He just caused things to come together and fall right into place.

• Other times while reading the Bible, a verse will pop off the page which God, through the Holy Spirit (who is our Comforter and Teacher) just brings alive. So alive, that I follow the revelation just revealed.

• On some occasions, I’ve heard what I call a “loud thought” which causes me to stop and ask, “is that really you Lord?”

• As well, I may be listening to a sermon or watching an interview on line and God kindly confirms what He spoke to me in private.

I love how Oswald Chambers puts it: the believer in Jesus who is walking with Him the best he can, “is God’s will”.

And there is one last piece of advice I’ll pass on to you; it comes from my mom.
When I’ve gone to her for advice, she says, “do you feel the peace of God?” If I answer with a wishy-washy, “Not really, or I’m just not sure” – she looks at me in a no-nonsense sort of way, “Wait for the peace of God”.

“… the Lord will bless His people with peace”. Psalm 29:11  Mom’s right on.

Since God’s very nature is peace; it only makes sense that He would surround us with Himself. I’ve learned the hard way not to rush ahead of God. He is never in a cloud of confusion. Even if a situation is hard and less than ideal, if we maintain a rest deep within and our communication with God is unbroken – then chances are we are in God’s will, despite the negative circumstances surrounding us day by day. His peace will confirm His presence … the peace of God which passes understanding.

“… let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”. Philippians 4:7

Today’s Prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, help me not to run ahead of you. I wait for You to act regardless of how long it takes. I will wait for your abiding peace”.
