Misty, low, damp, dark, days

If you have ever travelled to the West Coast of the United States, you have seen the gigantic Redwoods. They are said to be the tallest trees on earth and interestingly, require the heavy coastal fog to thrive.

Heavy coastal fog.

The kind of fog that is: misty, low, damp, dark.

You’d think these gigantic trees would need the nice warm ocean breezes to flourish, lots of sun and hot days … but no, they grow best in inclement weather.

Rain, mist and fog.

Reminds me of ourselves.

Since we are participants on earth in this journey called life – one day all is well and the next, problems seem as tall as the redwoods in the forest.

Misty. Low. Damp. Dark.

Give us a few low-cloud-kind of day, months or even years and we quickly realize we need Someone who lives above the clouds to see us through.

“I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me”. Psalm 139: 7-10

Instead of scrambling to “find God” when those darker days come – may I suggest you prepare now. Every day pray and every day read your Bible. That way, when the mist rolls in, you do the same as you did yesterday. Pray, read and trust God.

Jesus says:  “ … I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen”. Matthew28:20

What a promise.

Take heart today, God sees clearly through the fog.

Today’s Prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, oh to trust you more. Of course you see clearly through the fog – you are the Creator of all things. Forgive me for carrying my own burdens. I give my concerns to you today”.
