Encouragement - Complaining

No Complaining

Murmuring and complaining is just plain horrible. You dislike it in your kids and in their parents, it’s worse, we should know better.

I’ve tried not to be a complainer, however, let me tell you about one complaint.

My bed … and … it’s all in your perspective.

I use to moan about my bed. It was so hard. I’d often say, “I have to get another bed, I just can’t sleep on this anymore, it’s like sleeping on a rock”.

That is …until I went on a trip.

A trip to a third world country.

Let me explain.

After 24 hours of travel, I finally arrived at my destination and was shown to my room. I put my things down and exhausted, I thought I’d catch a little shut eye before supper; I flopped down on the bed. My head hit the pillow first.

It didn’t “flop”.

I’d never felt anything so hard. It was like hitting pavement. I abruptly sat up and thought to myself, “is this a bed? for sleeping?” The pillow was like the bed, hard as a rock.

Needless to say, I thought of my “terribly uncomfortable” bed at home and my complaint. I felt bad. Real bad. God forgive me for my petty ungratefulness.

After a week of sleeping on a truly hard bed, and noticing others around me sleeping in shacks, which didn’t have a bed at all, I learned my lesson well.

I never again mentioned my “hard bed”, in fact …

When I got home and crawled in … I sighed, it felt as soft as a cloud in heaven.

Amazing isn’t it?

It’s all in your perspective of things.

“Do everything without complaining and arguing …” Philippians 2:14

“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and sing praises to your Name oh Most High”. Psalm 92:1

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for complaining about anything. Just knowing You is enough for any of us to be grateful everyday of our lives. Thank you for everything Lord. You are so good to us and I sing and give you praise today!

Sharing is caring!
