Today's Blessing

An enormous group of people came up against an impossible situation. With the Red Sea before them and an army fast approaching behind them, certain death stared them down. All of a sudden - God intervened. Throughout the night strong winds blew and the Red Sea parted. They had a dry path to cross over. “Do you need a miracle today?”

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. Exodus 14:13 (NIV)

Dear Mom,

On occasion, God allows puzzling circumstances to occur in our lives. Queen Esther in the Bible is a perfect example. Armed with courage and steadfast faith, she trusted God, even when she did not understand His ways. God knows all things, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we can trust Him in all things. He sees all the way to the finish line, and – all is well.

I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. (Psalm 16:8, NLT)

Dear Mom,

Moving. What a chore. No doubt, you have had your share of packing up and moving – most of us have! What a nuisance. However, I have good news. When Jesus comes again, there will be no more packing. He said, “I will come in the twinkling of an eye.” We’ll just leave everything and go straight up. It will happen – one day – oh how exciting! What a thought!

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17

God never leaves us

Dear Mom,

You cannot hide from God. He is in the heavens, and roams the depths of the sea. He rides the wind, and circles the planets; He calls each star by name, and knows the exact number of galaxies in the skies. He is everywhere, and because God values our importance so much, He daily monitors our coming and going. You are never alone.

You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do…You go before me and follow me…such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand. (Psalm 139:3-6, NLT)

Dear Mom,

Satan seems to find extra pleasure in attacking God’s strongest forts. The closer you draw nearer to God, the fiercer his attacks. He is after your faith sweet mom, pure and simple. He wants you to think God doesn’t care; that God won’t answer you and He has completely forgotten you. That is a lie. God cares deeply for all mothers – He had one and He loved her deeply. He is with us no matter what. He loves us, pure and simple.

“ … greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world”. 1 John 4:4

Dear Mom,

Life can get awfully messy. Try as you might to take a couple steps forward – you go back again a couple steps. Life’s interruptions are simply unavoidable. When my Grandpa was still alive, I would discuss various situations with him and he would always say with a smile, “God knows all about it my dear” and he was right. You’ll make it sweet mom. Hang in there.

“In the day of my trouble I will call to You, for You will answer me”. Psalm 86:7

Dear Mom,

Chances are you have experienced a virus lurking in your computer. At the most inconvenient time, the whole system crashes. The deceiver, our enemy, does the same to us. He creeps around trying to con us, hoping our lives will, “crash.” He is against you, against me, and everyone we love. Thankfully though, we have a Heavenly Father who can preserve us from this evil one. Trust in God. He will save you.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7, NLT)

Dear Mom,

Wisdom is priceless. If a solution to a particular dilemma has you bewildered, turn to the book of Proverbs. I assure you, insight and understanding will come, as you attentively read God’s word. God desires to guide you, to help you with all your decisions. He wants the best for you and for those you love. He has the answers to all your problems – simply ask Him to show you what to do everyday.

I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me. (Proverbs 8:17, NKJV)

devotions for moms

Dear Mom,

I listened to the story of a young married couple, who, in spite of her fiancé’s paralyzing accident their love endured. This beautiful young lady could have walked away and no one would have faulted her really – however, her decision to carry on regardless of their dire circumstances, was inspiring. Is there someone you need to love unconditionally? Love can endure through every circumstance. God’s enduring love.

“Love is patient and kind … love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance”. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

Read Your Bible

Dear Mom,

Here is the, “Lord’s Prayer,” in my own words: “Dear God, wise, loving and powerful, may your will be done in everything today. Please give me my daily necessities and forgive my sins, as I forgive those, I know I should. Keep me from temptation and all evil, I honour your Name and give you praise, Amen”. I invite you to pray this prayer with me today. Bless you.

Matthew 6: 9-13

Happy New Year’s

I love New Year’s Day.

It’s my favourite day of the whole year. It’s new, fresh and full of promise – miracles.

“Miracles are supernatural events that supersedes natural laws”.

Do you need a few of these this year?

Last week I drove by a familiar intersection and a memory came flooding back. Let me tell you about a miracle …

My young son and I had made the hour drive to a big box store. I finished my shopping, we hopped in the car and drove through the subdivision weaving our way back to the main road. I noticed the light was red at the intersection; I pulled up, put on my signal and waited for the green to proceed.

What happened next was an event that superseded natural laws.

The light turned green and I didn’t move. I sat there like a stone. I remember thinking, “What am I doing? The light is green”. However, within a split second, a car sped through the red light like a bullet.

I gasped.

Had I simply moved forward when the light turned green, I would have been hit. Considering the speed the other car was going, I doubt my son and I would have survived the impact; leaving behind my husband and our other four children.

As I made a slow left, I was so shaken, I couldn’t drive. I pulled off to the side of the road. “Dear Jesus, you just saved my life, our lives. You made me stop on a green and kept me there until the car passed. Thank you, Jesus”.

Maybe this new year you are looking for a miracle.

You need one.

A supernatural event that supersedes natural laws.

Allow me to encourage you today; if a personal God watches when lights turn green and keeps you stopped because you are in desperate need of a miracle – then dear one, He sees you too – as you are stopped – in desperate need a miracle.

Jesus coming to earth – is a miracle. His death on a cross in the prime of life – is a miracle.

God is full of miracles – we all need them.

It’s a foolish presumption to think we can make God do anything – the clay demanding the potter – but we can trust God in everything and ask with faith believing “for a supernatural event that supersedes natural laws”.

A true, one-of-a-kind miracle …

“For with God nothing will be impossible”. Luke 1:37 (NKJV)

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” Ephesians 3:20 (NKVJ)

Today’s Prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, you are the God of the impossible and you can do anything. I believe you hear me when I pray and I will trust you for miracles this year. Thank you”.
