Things I’ve Learned from a Godly Mom
My Mom is my friend. Here’s what she taught me.
1. Love God.
2. Love your husband.
3. Love your children.
4. Love life.
Now here’s a little more …
Mom is fair, consistent and trustworthy; any conversation you have is safe with her. She’s a devoted Mom, loves you no matter what. Mom says “yes” as much as possible, doesn’t even matter if she had other plans. She’s for you. She believes in you. She opens her home to her daughters, their husbands, her 10 grandchildren as well as her 10 great-grandchildren … anytime. Mom is loving. She’s a positive person. She is fun and full of life. Mom cooks for you – bakes for you – always has time to chat with you. She’s the best.
There is one more exceptional quality I admire in my Mom, one that is priceless.
She prays.
Besides my Dad’s prayer life, Mom’s is unmatched.
You’ll find her every morning, going through every name of her family, extended family, her church family, her country … Mom doesn’t just talk about prayer – she prays. All her family knows she does and we feel her prayers.
If you share a problem with her, she advises, “God is still on the throne, let’s pray about it”. She tells you the truth, in love, always in love.
As a wife and mother myself, the “Proverb 31 Woman” is someone to look up too …
Mom, I see these qualities in you. Perhaps you don’t spin wool and make your own bedspread as in Bible times, however, your character has now come to full maturity, you are the “Proverbs 31 Woman”.
Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise. Proverbs 31:28-31
Yes, Mom, there are many women in the world and mothers too numerous to count; but you Mom, excel them all.
